Why would people cheat on online games like Mario Kart Wii for example?

lately i was on wifi on Mario Kart wii and all of a sudden one person is using cheats on VS and/or battle and i suffer a lot points and cant get back up until that person leaves. i was thinking why would anyone use cheats even on the simplest game. i dont use cheats but i really rely on honor and true racing and no cheats at all. cant anyone just get used to it without the cheats they have on hand.Why would people cheat on online games like Mario Kart Wii for example?
